Biking:

If you are interested in biking in the North Georgia Mountains, we have several trails in the region that we know will meet your needs. Aska, Green Mountain, and Stanley Gap Trails are just a few, all of which vary in length and degree of difficulty. Just ask us or e-mail us and we can give you more specific information for your adventure outing.

Hiking:

Amicalola Falls State Park- This beautiful State Park has much to offer anyone who simply wants to spend a beautiful day out in the open forest. In addition to the spectacular main attraction, the Falls, there are great hiking and biking trails; maps inside the park show the various trail locations. Families can enjoy a splendid day in the park and have a picnic while enjoying the beautiful scenery and abundant wildlife. This park is less than a 30 minute drive from Ellijay or from Blue Ridge.

Fort Mountain State Park- As a State facility this park has a lake, many hiking trails and is wonderful for biking. It has many areas for family outings/events and is set up for swimming.

Aska Trails- This trail is a 17 mile hiking and biking trail; a long ride but with very beautiful scenery located on National Forest Land. The trail is long and winding and ascends to 3200 feet, allowing one to see for miles and miles. It descends to beautiful Lake Blue Ridge where one can partake of a variety of water activities.

Flat Creek Loop Trail- This trail is a 5.8 mile loop that runs along a mountain creek. It is rated as a moderate hike and the scenery is spectacular. One cannot go wrong traveling this course!

Green Mountain Trail- This trail is very scenic and is a short hike compared to some of the others in the region. It is 3.3 miles, and makes for a great day in the mountains. It is also very nice for a short bike ride. You will notice the beautiful views of Lake Blue Ridge as you walk or ride this beautiful mountain trail.

Lake Blue Ridge Trail- This trail is very flat and excellent for any beginner. It is easily accessible for families, children and seniors alike to enjoy. It's only 6/10 of a mile long--a short mountain stroll that is extremely beautiful. It is the perfect place for a picnic, be it at the beginning or end of the trail. You decide!

Rich Mountain Wilderness Area- Hikers exploring this area should be experienced, and equip themselves with maps, a first aid kit and survival gear. There is a vast array of wildlife such as deer, bear, wild turkey, bobcat and wild boar. The vegetation is stunning with miles of wildflowers to view. Along the way, you will encounter beautiful waterfalls and stream crossings. The elevation here varies from 2000 feet near Little Rock Creek to 4081 feet at Big Bald Mountain.

Water Activities:

White Water Rafting- We have three Rivers to choose from. Let us guide you in your choice depending on the size and experience level of your party.

Nantahala River- This River is recommended for beginners. Law states that children must weigh at least 60 lb. to participate in any rafting activities here.

Ocoee River and the Chattooga River- These Rivers are more suited to the advanced/experienced rafter. The rapids are much larger.

Tubing- Float down the Cartecay, Coosawattee or Toccoa River for a day's outing with family or friends. Tube rentals are available and transportation will be provided. Please inquire in our office at 706-69898 or 1-866-369-9898. We will be more than happy to assist you.

Boating- CARTER'S LAKE AND LAKE BLUE RIDGE - Cater's Lake in Ellijay and Lake Blue Ridge in Blue Ridge offer marinas in which to rent pontoon boats or small pleasure boats. If you wish, bring your own boat and or Jet Ski to enjoy the clean mountain waters.

Fishing- Trout fishing is very popular here in the North Georgia Mountains. Our area is abundant with fish, as many of our streams and rivers are stocked annually allowing for great fishing. The White Path area in Ellijay has streams in which native trout can be found.  Rock Creek also has wonderful fishing and it is located in Cherry Log Georgia, not far from Ellijay. Some of the best fishing can be found in Fighting Town Creek and the Toccoa River. Horseback Riding:

We have our own horses and outfitter! Over 20 years of experience...and still going strong.

Enjoy a beautiful ride in the mountains on horseback. The horses are well trained, the scenery is spectacular, and the trails are easily accessible. Your guides are some of the most experienced in the area. Please call to make reservations the night before at 706-698-9898 or 1-866-369-9898.

Horse Drawn Carriage Ride- Take a nice, Leisurely ride through the street of town in beautiful Blue Ridge Georgia. No advance reservations is needed. Rex and Sally are located near the train depot.

The Blue Ridge Scenic Railway- A Round trip train ride excursion winding along various rivers and streams all the way to the Tennessee Line. Call for dates and times at 706-632-9833. The fall is a beautiful time of the year to see foliage in a vast array of colors.

Annual Festival held in Blairsville for three consecutive weekends.
There are contest, arts, crafts, food & entertainment for the entire family.

October 8-17- Fall Festival and Fair (Hiawassee, Georgia)
Held at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds. Enjoy clogging, singing, dancing, arts, crafts and regional food. There is also The Old Timer’s Fiddler’s Convention.

October 9-10,16-17- Arts and Crafts on the Square

October 9-12 and 16-18- Georgia Apple Festival
Enjoy great food from across the country as well as local food vendors that know what good cooking is all about and granted they do it well. Lots of handmade crafts, entertainment and every apple product one can imagine…after all we are the Apple Capital of Georgia. Held each and every year at The Lions Club/ Fair Grounds. This is one event that you will not want to miss. Just before the holidays and a great way to accomplish all of your Christmas shopping at one time in one place.
